On Thursday, Swatch CEO, Nick Hayek, and his exec team all wore and promoted the latest Swatch watch–a bright green watch bearing the word “Occupy” along the strap in this Spring’s hottest watch color: orange. Meanwhile, the face states: “your wrist.” This is what Hayek calls a “positive provocation.” This is an interesting move for the top-selling brand name watch manfacturer. Though the Swatch label has long held strong pop-culture ties to its time, which has helped them stay relevant.
Hayek was, however, evasive when asked if he supported the social movement that has recently held protests in Wall Street and other global financial centers. He did however make his stance again exporting jobs in exchange for cheap labor, which he is adamantly against.
Swatch is the world’s largest watch manufacturing company, producing watches for brands such as Tissot, Longines and Omega, as well as Swatch watches. They are hands down one of the most popular brand name watches and brand name watch manufacturers in the world.
At the press conference, Hayek announced that the Occupy watches were produced in a limited amount, though he confesses that he was tempted to send some to the banks. Not sure yet whether we ever get to see–or sell–the Occupy Swatch watches, here at eWatches, but stay tuned!vedere di piu rolex replicas e Breitling Aeromarine
